QPR boss Marti Cifuentes was delighted with his side’s creativity as they claimed a third Championship win in a row with a 1-0 victory over bottom side Plymouth.
Substitute Rayan Kolli scored the 65th-minute winner, following in on a save from Dan Grimshaw and applying a measured finish into the far corner from the edge of the box.
Cifuentes beamed: “I am very happy, not only for the result but the fact it is not easy to come here and get three points as Plymouth’s home form has been stable.
“The way we performed, we created enough chances to not suffer. It was a very strong performance from a collective point of view and some really good individual performances as well.
“We know taking chances is the difference between being high and low in the table but the reality is that we had five or six clear chances. Their keeper made some brilliant saves.
“I am very pleased with all the players from the bench. The squad rotation is important and everyone is ready to contribute.
“The way we finished the game with fresh legs and on the counter, those small details are really valuable.
“I am glad to get the three points because of the result they got in the FA Cup, they played well against Oxford and have a new manager.
“I was expecting this to be tough and the first few minutes was tough, it was not easy to get a grip of the game and Plymouth started really well.
“It was really important for us to match them and then play our game.
“Form can change, Plymouth started the season really well and there was a drop in results. When you are in this mood, it seems very dark and very difficult. Sometimes it takes one win to change the dynamic.”
Plymouth’s winless Championship run stretched to 13 matches.
New Argyle head coach Miron Muslic said: “I am very disappointed because we simply lacked the desire to win duels first. That’s a basic.
“We have had some injury problems over the last couple of days. We also had to adapt the system because we cannot play with a back three if you only have two centre backs.
“But I don’t think this was the problem, we just lacked the physicality. The difference between our physicality and physicality of QPR was immense in everything.
“Defensively, offensively, in the set plays, at the throw-ins and there we struggled. And again the most important thing today was to win the duels because it’s not always about the physicality and the height.
“I will mention one player, Julio Pleguezuelo. He tried, he tried to compete every single duel, every single duel against (Michael) Frey – a very big and strong target player. We lacked that desire in other positions, just to win duels.
“And if you can’t win duels then you don’t have a chance.
“We were far away from deserving even a point. That’s the reality. But first of all we have to admit that was not enough today, we have to admit we are far away from it. Then when you admit that you can start to find solutions.
“After a home game if our goalkeeper is the best player on the pitch there is something wrong.”
