MARK Allen closed out victory over Robbie Williams to progress to the second round of the Cazoo World Snooker Championship on Wednesday.
Allen held a 7-2 overnight lead after Tuesday’s opening session but Williams began the second session well, taking the first two frames, the second with a run of 77.
Allen took the next two to move to within one frame of victory but Williams battled hard to delay his fate, breaks of 53 and 86 reducing the lead to 9-6.
However, the number four seed only needed one chance in frame 17 to seal victory, doing so in fine style with a break of 114.
On the other table, tournament favourite Ronnie O’Sullivan was making short work of Jackson Page.
Breaks of 54, 56, 81, 122, 66 and 53 moved him to within two frames of the second round, though Page did have the honour of hitting the highest break of the session, a 142 when 6-0 behind.
That break puts him alongside compatriot Mark Williams and Ricky Walden at the top of the list for the highest break prize.
