Rising star of Irish golf Tom McKibbin looks set for a sensational switch to LIV Golf.
According to reports on the website TenGolf.com, the 22-year-old from Newtownabbey is a leading candidate to join the team captain by Spain’s Jon Rahm in the controversial breakaway golf competition.
McKibbin has just completed a season on the DP World Tour, which saw him finish 18th in the Race to Dubai, earning him a PGA tour card for 2025.
The Holywood-based golfer registered nine top tens on last season’s Race to Dubai, including a runner-up finish in Italy, while he played his first Major Championship at the US Open, before going on to feature at The Open.
His first professional win in Europe came in the Porsche European Open in Germany in June 2023 while he lost in a play-off to Marcel Siem in the 2024 Italian Open.
Rahm captains the Legion XIII team which also contains England’s Tyrrell Hatton and American Caleb Surratt.
McKibbin is due to play alongside Hatton in the Great Britain and Ireland side to face Continental Europe in the Team Cup next week in Abu Dhabi.
