Katie Taylor could see her dream of fighting at Croke Park come true after it emerged that the GAA HQ is being considered as the potential venue for the upcoming showdown between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.

Taylor has previously stated her intention to retire following one last fight in Dublin this year, with the preferred venue being Croke Park, although the date and opponent are not yet set.

This dream could come true as part of a blockbuster bill with Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua taking the other headline slot.

Taylor last fought in July 2025 in Madison Square Garden when she defeated Amanda Serrano for the third time.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Croke Park stadium chief executive Peter McKenna said that

“The real hope is that we will get Tyson Fury here later on in the year. That would be such a world-billing event that we would be able to facilitate a Katie Taylor fight here,” he said.

“A lot of stars need to align. Katie’s manager needs to agree, Katie’s promoter needs to agree, Tyson Fury’s promoter needs to agree.

“I am very confident that all three are coming to the sense that this is one of Ireland’s greatest sporting athletes, and it would be such a ‘wow’ to have her here and for her to finish her career here.”

Tyson Fury will take on Arslanbek Makhmudov in London on Saturday, with the ‘Gyspsy King’ eyeing up Joshua for his next bout should he come out on top over the Russian.

Joshua has only recently resumed training after recovering from injuries he sustained in a car crash in Nigeria that killed two of his closest friends, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele, in late December 2025.

Should Joshua not take a warm-up fight, then Joshua-Fury, a long-awaited fight between the UK’s two highest-profile heavyweights of this generation, could be coming to Jones’ Road.

The stadium’s schedule after the football and hurling championship seasons is relatively wide-open, with major concerts such as The Weeknd and Bon Jovi scheduled for late August.

Croke Park has recently played host to the first-ever competitive NFL game on the island of Ireland last year, when the Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Minnesota Vikings, a European Rugby Champions Cup semi-final in 2024 and will also see Premier League sides Manchester United and Leeds United play out a pre-season friendly in August.
