While singers are just as vulnerable to sudden illness as all the rest of us, it seems very unfortunate that yesterday’s scheduled Belfast concerts by the hugely popular band Little Mix were cancelled after the doors at the SSE Arena had already opened.
It is only a matter of months since an even more high profile act, One Direction, pulled out of a sell-out show at the same venue at almost equally short notice.
The promoters have stressed that information about a possible rescheduling will be released shortly, which will offer some consolation to the bitterly disappointed young fans.
However, the performers themselves surely have a responsibility to ensure that announcements about postponements are made at a much earlier stage.
