Pair had been arrested by detectives on Tuesday

A man and a woman have been charged with firearms-related offences by police investigating the reported shooting of a man in Coalisland.

The 34-year-old man and 43-year-old woman were charged on Wednesday following their arrest the day before in connection with the incident last Wednesday, October 30, when a man in his 40s attended hospital with a suspected gunshot wound to his arm.

Police carried out numerous searches in the Coalisland area on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week and recovered suspected firearms and imitation firearms, which have been sent for further testing.

The man and woman are due to appear before Strabane Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, and all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

Following the recovery of the suspected firearms, a PSNI spokesperson said: “We would like to thank the community for their patience over the last couple of days.

”Our enquiries are ongoing and we would continue appeal for anyone with information in relation to this incident to contact us on 101, quoting reference number 1369 of 30/10/24.”
