Racist and sectarian graffiti daubed on walls of new housing estate in Rathcoole

Racist and sectarian graffiti has been daubed on the walls of a new housing estate in Co Antrim.

The words ‘no taigs’ and ‘no refugees’ were sprayed at the social housing development in the Rathcoole Drive area.

The graffiti on the walls of the Apex Housing development is understood to have appeared over the weekend.

The housing development, on the site of the former Newtownabbey Community High School, will see the creation of more than 100 new homes.

Police said it is being treated as “hate crimes”.

A PSNI spokesman said: “There is no place in our society for this type of behaviour and I would ask anyone with any information to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 1504 of 08/03/24.

“Alternatively, you can report online.”
