Devastation as Co Armagh man dies in ‘tragic accident’ in Turkey

Tributes have been paid to a Co Armagh man after he died while on holiday in Turkey.

Conor Lennon, from Newtownhamilton, died suddenly on Saturday, and a death notice said his passing was the result of a “tragic accident”.

The notice described him as the “beloved and cherished son of Tony and Paula, devoted daddy to Georgia and loving brother to Megan and Sian”.

It adds: “Deeply regretted by his heartbroken parents, daughter, sisters, girlfriend Siofra and his extended family and many friends.”

In a social media post, Mr Lennon’s sister Sian wrote: “I love you big bro didn’t get saying it enough. Forever and always thanks for everything.”

Newtownhamilton-based Park Butchers and Catering said in a Facebook post on Sunday that staff were “devastated” to learn of Mr Lennon’s death.

“The Lennon family have played a big part in our businesses including Conor, from the age of 15. We are all one big family and we are all heart broken,” a spokesperson said, adding they were keeping the family “in our thoughts and prayers”.

Friend Edwina McCombe said in a post she “thought the world of Conor”, describing him as a “lovely young man and always smiling”.



Newry, Mourne and Down Sinn Féin councillor, Aoife Finnegan, is from the Newtownhamilton area.

“This is devastating for the family and friends of Mr Lennon, and my thoughts are with them as they deal with this shocking and sudden loss,” she told the Irish News

“This tragedy will be felt across the Newtownhamilton area and beyond, and the community will no doubt rally round to help Mr Lennon’s loved ones as they face the difficult times ahead.”

No funeral details for Mr Lennon had been released on Sunday evening.
