CastleCourt car park in Belfast city centre has re-opened following its closure earlier this morning due to a temporary power cut.

A spokesperson for the centre said on-site technicians had “worked quickly” to repair the fault.

Traffic in the area was gridlocked this morning around CastleCourt as the shopping centre’s car park has been closed.

Drivers were unable to access or leave the car park.

A driver caught up ensuing traffic jam told The Irish News there were “long tailbacks of traffic in the area around Millfield Junction, a busy junction in the city centre”.

“This was having a knock on impact on different routes into the city from there.”
