A cancer charity has launched a sun safety campaign aimed at raising awareness among young people.
The Cancer Fund for Children hopes its ‘Hats and Shades’ initiative will teach about the importance of staying safe in the sun, while raising vital funds to help ensure no child has to face cancer alone.
The initiative aims to educate nursery and primary aged children on the importance of staying safe in the sun.
Schools are encouraged to hold a Hats and Shades Day as they welcome in the warmer weather, giving pupils the chance to wear their favourite summer accessories.
Among those involved is Trinity Nursery School in Bangor.
Rebecca Oates from Cancer Fund for Children said: “We are encouraging nurseries and schools across Northern Ireland to get sun savvy and sign up to take part in our Hats and Shades event so that we can be there for children and young people when they need us most”
She added: “Every penny raised will make such a difference and we couldn’t be more grateful”.
