Belfast has topped the poll of best cities to retire in, closely followed by Leeds, Bradford and Preston.
In research carried out by Moneypenny answering service, Belfast had several factors in its favour, including, the average cost of living, retirement savings required, and the variety of amenities.
It emerged that Belfast offered retirees the best of both affordable living and variety of activities in which to take part.
The city scored high for its low cost of living, as retirees found the cost of groceries, transportation, and utilities was generally lower than Britain.
According to Numbeo – the biggest internet database regarding Cost of Living – rent in Belfast is 63% lower than in London, averaging £703 per month.
