Around 250 people gathered in Belfast to take part in the 20th anniversary celebration of Parkrun at Waterworks this weekend.
Parkrun is a free community event in which participants walk, jog or run in parks and outdoor spaces.
It was first established in London in 2004 and is now a global movement with more than 10 million participants in 2,500 locations.
Waterworks was the first parkrun location to be established in the north in 2010 and there are now 39 weekly events here with around 5,000 people taking part every week.
John Murphy, Event Director and Regional Ambassador at Waterworks parkrun said he was “delighted” to be celebrating the 20th anniversary.
“What makes Parkrun special is its inclusivity,” he said.
“It’s free, open to everyone, and you don’t need to be a serious runner to take part.
“Whether you’re running, walking, volunteering, or just supporting, parkrun is about bringing communities together and promoting health and wellbeing.”
Mr Murphy believes that the event is a “lifeline for so many”.
“It’s inspiring to see people whose lives have been transformed by Parkrun,” he said.
“We’ve had stories like Gary Watton, who survived a cardiac arrest thanks to a defibrillator at parkrun and then used the weekly events as a vital part of his recovery journey, and Sandy Carr, who started running with her children and now sees them volunteering every weekend.”
