The founder of one of Ireland’s most famous bakery brands has died.

Joseph Brennan founded Brennan’s Bread in Dublin city centre 55 years ago and saw the family-owned firm grow to become one of Ireland’s biggest bakery businesses.



The bakery initially served the Dublin area before later expanding nationally across the island, with bread also distributed overseas.

Known affectionately as “Old Mr Brennan”, the 82-year-old father-of-seven died at home in Dublin earlier this week and his funeral took place yesterday .
