Refurbishment plans for a Derry bus cleaning building have been submitted to Derry City and Strabane District Council.

A planning application was recently submitted to the council’s planning portal, seeking permission to alter Translink Bus Depot’s bus wash cleaners building at Pennyburn Industrial Estate.

Plans also include alterations and extensions to the staff facilities building, including “all associated site works”.

An accompanying Planning Covering Letter, by agents Tetra Tech Consulting, noted that the development would not result in any additional vehicles or increase in staff numbers, nor would it “generate intensification of use of the site”.

The letter added: “It seeks only refurbishment and alteration of the existing bus wash cleaners building and alteration and extension to the existing bus wash staff facilities building.

“All proposed works are minor in nature. The development will not result in any amenity impacts upon surrounding residents or properties.

“It is entirely in keeping with the character and nature of the existing site and is compliant with the local development plan and regional planning policy, guidance and advice.”
