Limavady firm ELSS Engineering has landed a multi-million dollar contract for a major aquarium project in Southeast Asia.

The Co Derry business, which specialises in aquarium engineering and manufacturing, has secured its latest contract in Singapore.

Founded in 2005, ELSS has now completed projects in six continents and 37 countries including SeaWorld Abu Dhabi, the largest aquarium in the world.

The company said the new multi-million dollar project in Singapore is due for completion later this year.

ELSS Engineering chairman, Jeffrey Martin McAteer, said the company was assisted in winning the contract with a seven figure trade finance package from HSBC UK.

He said the Limavady business will use the funding as a financial guarantee to begin the construction of the major aquarium project.

“Being able to operate on a global scale allows us to work on some of the largest aquariums around the world,” said Mr McAteer.

“Through our work we hope to show younger generations the varied career possibilities engineering can bring.”

Lauren Dougherty from HSBC UK, said: “It has been great to have been able to cement ELSS Engineering’s position on the global stage and help facilitate a new contract in Singapore.

“We are excited to continue supporting its success as it works on projects around the world.”
