Just short of 51 years after their last appearance in a World Cup final, England have reached another – albeit in the Fifa Under-20 World Cup in South Korea this time.
After their 3-1 semi-final win against Italy, the Three Lions will face Venezuela in the final on Sunday.

The last time England qualified for a World Cup final was with a semi-final win against Portugal in 1966, a 2-1 result enough to set up a game with West Germany to decide the destination of the Jules Rimet trophy. This time England had to come from behind after conceding early on, Juventus’s Riccardo Orsolini scoring after just two minutes.A brace from Dominic Solanke and a goal from Ademola Lookman in the second half however turned the game around for Paul Simpson’s team.
What an achievement! Great effort from @England U20s. Solanke with 2 gls, Lookman the other. 3-1 and into #U20WC final!!

England players past and present took to social media to acknowledge the achievement – Gary Lineker knows a thing or two about how hard semi-finals can be.
Great stuff from England Under-20s, reaching the World Cup final. The future brightens.

England beat Argentina and South Korea in the group stage, drawing with Guinea as well. They then progressed through the knockout stage by beating Costa Rica, Mexico, and then Italy.
Well done to @England U20 side for reaching the World Cup final???? exiting talent #ENG ??

Meanwhile, Solanke’s goals have made his agreed move to Liverpool from Chelsea, which will be official on July 1, look like a steal for Jurgen Klopp.
England heading for U20 World Cup final. 3-1 up now against Italy. Solanke again, his 4th of tournament. Chelsea's loss, Liverpool's gain?

And BBC sports editor Dan Roan was on hand to remind everyone that this result was no accident.
England U20 success no flash in the pan. Core of group won 2014 U17 Euros & got to semi of 2016 U19s. Huge credit due to boss Paul Simpson

Will they bring home the World Cup?
