FORMER Derry, Donegal and Fermanagh manager Rory Gallagher has been assigned a coaching role with Kildare club Naas for the 2025 club season, according to reports.
The Fermanagh native was recently heavily linked with a coaching role at Derry under Enda Muldoon, but this proposal was scrapped before Paddy Tally was confirmed as the new Derry manager.
He has now been appointed as a coach at Naas, RTE has reported.
Gallagher stepped down from his role as Derry manager before the 2023 Ulster final against Armagh following allegations of domestic abuse made by his ex-wife Nicola.
In September 2023, Gallagher was “temporarily debarred” by Ulster officials while it continued with the review.
This came after pictures emerged of Gallagher taking part in a training session with Co Monaghan club Corduff Gaels.
In February the Disputes Resolution Authority (DRA) lifted the ban, clearing the way for Gallagher to return to management.
In a previous statement, Gallagher’s legal representatives said: “There is no legal impediment to our client undertaking or accepting a role as a GAA Senior Football manager.
“Our client fully intends to return to inter-county management in the near future.”
The former Fermanagh forward will coach under Joe Murphy, who was ratified as manager for the upcoming season, which will be his fourth for the side.
Naas were defeated in the Leinster Senior Football Championship quarter-final by Dublin club Cuala, however, the side have won the last four Kildare senior football titles on the bounce.
Padraic Cribben, Kevin Martin, Martin Sweeney and Fionn Higgins are also set to be part of the 2025 management team.
