BELFAST-based law firm, Tughans will move to new headquarters in the recently completed Grade A office building, The Ewart.

The Bedford Square, Belfast building will become the firm’s new base where it will occupy 23,000 sq ft across the 11th and 12th floors.

The commercial law firm, which is one of the biggest here, specialises in legal advice across all business sectors.

It was recognised as the most active law firm in Northern Ireland in each of the last seven years by the Experian MarketIQ M&A League Table, having advised on deals worth over £1bn in each of the last five years.

The 125-year-old business will now operate from the Ewart which has benefitted from an £85m restoration project which included a 17-storey new build extension. It is dubbed the city’s most sustainable new build.

Patrick Brown, Managing Partner at Tughans said: “This is a hugely exciting time for our firm, as we move our headquarters to The Ewart on Bedford Square. The success of the firm has been built on exceptional people, doing market-leading work, for high-quality clients but our previous office has not been reflective of that. The world class facilities in the Ewart very closely align with our own ambition for the future and will support both our continued growth and development of our culture of intelligence, collaboration, and innovation.”

Dave Jones, Head of Real Estate at Tughans, said the business outgrew its Victoria Street base. He said: “As we work with clients to reach their environmental goals, the new offices’ environmental credentials were instrumental in our decision to move our headquarters to the tower.”

Stephen Surphlis, Managing Director of MRP, but building firm behind the Ewart said: “Tughans arrival means that The Ewart is now over two-thirds let and on course to be fully let in early 2023.”
