NEWRY-based Re-Gen Robotics has set its sights on growth in Europe for its latest expansion.
The company, which specialises in automated tank cleaning across the oil, gas and pharmaceuticals industries, has ordered two additional robotic cleaning systems as part of a £4 million investment, creating eight jobs.
The cleaning firm is part of the wider Re-Gen waste group, which earlier this year unveiled a £22m development plan for a new headquarters and recycling facility in Newry.
While the group is developing those plans, it’s also looking to the European market for its newest subsidiary.
Re-Gen Robotics conducted the first ever ‘no man entry’ oil tank clean for Shell in 2019. Since then, the demand for its services has grown substantially as other major gas and oil producers seek to cut back on health safety risks.
After two years marketing its business across the UK, the company has partnered with Italian firm Gerotto for the delivery of two new custom-made robotic cleaning systems.
Managing director Fintan Duffy said: “We have concentrated on growing the GB market and as we continue to innovate our technology, our UK contracts with oil majors are naturally expanding into Europe and the rest of the world.
“We have also had huge interest from oil companies and terminal operators in the US and are presently in discovery talks with them.”
He continued: “The last two years have been an exciting time for our business. We’ve made substantial investments across several key areas including our people and our service offering, state-of-the-art headquarters with R&D facilities and service bays for our robotic equipment and trucks, in preparation for significant international growth.
“Staffing levels are set to double in Autumn this year with plans to create a further five jobs in admin, design and an additional three crew members, who will be based permanently in England.”
